Alternative Cancer Treatments

Be warned, I may be over sharing here, but there are a few things I would like you to know about me. I take my coffee up my butt. I send my urine to the Philippines. And I zap myself with radio frequencies. This may all sound crazy, but I don't think it is any crazier than pumping poison directly into my veins, which is exactly what they did when I was going through chemotherapy.

As you know, I started my cancer journey two years ago, and I have already been through chemotherapy twice, and am facing a third time.  I was never promised a cure. But I was also never provided with an alternative to chemotherapy.  Until then I had always used natural therapies to heal myself.  But a cancer diagnosis is scary, and I didn't know anything about alternative cancer treatments at the time, so I put my life in my doctor's hands.

Soon after I was diagnosed I started taking back my life. Over these past two years I have learned a lot about cancer, the FDA, and cancer treatment. I have not let cancer, or my doctors scare me into submission. I have educated myself in order to be in control of my situation.

I think the most important thing in any difficult situation is to find the strength to take control, and not feel helpless or hopeless.  This is what gets me through the day- knowing that I can decide how to live with cancer. That doesn't mean not getting scared, or sad. It means feeling those things, recognizing them, and then saying NO!, this is not going to bring me down, and releasing them.

Sadness and fear, as well as anger or resentment, are contracting emotions. They block your energy, and suppress your immune system. I don't have time for that. I don't want to contract my life (the cancer is already doing that). I want to expand my life!

I know Margaret feels the same way. That's why we are such good friends, and so able to support each other. We may not take the same supplements, or follow the same diet, nor should we. We are different people. Our bodies are different. Our cancers are different. Yet the medical community offers us the same thing-surgery, radiation, chemotherapy.

I am writing this post to let people know that there are alternatives. I'm not an expert, so I am going to provide a lot of links at the end for those of you who are interested in reading more. I think as cancer reaches epidemic proportions, we should all know what we can do for ourselves, or loved ones in the case of this life threatening emergency called cancer.

The picture at the top of this post is part of my beat cancer bootcamp. It is what I put into my body everyday, as well as three light nutritious meals. I didn't start out with everything you see on the table. When I was diagnosed the first thing I did was cut sugar out of my diet. Not whole fruits like berries and grapes. Those provide fiber and important cancer fighting nutrients. I'm talking about the white stuff. The stuff the average American eats more than 100lbs. of per year. The stuff that suppresses your immune system, and provides no nutrition-only calories. Then I started juicing. This allowed me to flood my body with huge amounts of vitamins and minerals from quantities of fresh organic vegetables that I could never manage to ingest in their whole form.

More recently I have started doing coffee enemas because they stimulate the liver to release toxins. Many of the alternative cancer healing protocols (such as Gerson, Kelly, Budwig) include coffee enemas. They take some getting used to, but once you get over the awkward phase, they are relaxing, and leave you feeling -well let's just say light and clean. They are also a good way to manage pain.

Here is a brief recipe for a coffee enema. (This is for my friend Jenna)

3c. of filtered water
2T of organic coffee
Note: if you have difficulty retaining the coffee in the beginning add
1/2 T. baking soda - I read that this helps with retention, and I find that to be true.

Bring the water and the coffee to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Then let the coffee cool down to body temperature. It should feel warm, but not hot. Strain the coffee. You could also boil the coffee in half the amount of water, and then add the rest of the cool water to bring down the temperature quicker.

While the coffee is cooling, assemble and hang the enema bag, and set up the bathroom to make the event as comfortable as possible.  I use a towel with a thick rug under it to lie down on. I have a small pillow to support my head, and I make sure I can hear the radio from the other room. You will also need a clock in there to time the retention.

Once everything is in place, and the coffee is cool, fill the bag. Make sure you have the tubing clamped shut, or you will end up with a puddle. Assuming you are already stripped from the waist down, (or at least have good access to the necessary anatomy), lie down and insert the tip. Don't forget to lubricate it! I prefer the right side lying knees to chest position. All of this information should come with your bag.

Release the clamp, and let the coffee enter your colon slowly. You can shut the clamp as needed. I find that if I get a cramp, or the sudden urge to evacuate ( my colon not the room) I close the clamp and take a few quick breaths in and out, and then resume until the bag is empty.

The coffee solution should be retained for 15-20 minutes minimum. This may be very difficult at first. You can work up to this. You can also start out with smaller amounts of solution until you get used to holding a bag full of coffee in your colon. You could also do a quick plain water enema first if you need to make room in there.

Last step - let loose! Your colon will evacuate the coffee naturally. Don't try. And if it doesn't all come out at once, that's okay. Just stay within 100 ft. of your toilet for half an hour or so.

Clean bag as instructed by the manufacturer.

If you want more information, you can Google coffee enemas and get a whole list of websites. You can also watch instructions on You Tube. There will be some variations. Some sites may say to use 4 or more cups of water. Some may say to do two 15 minute sessions. I think what is most important is that you use organic coffee, and that you retain it for at least 15 minutes.

I have also started using a zapper. I don't know the science well enough to tell you how they work, but they are supposed to kill parasites and strengthen your immune system. So I sit on the couch with this little plastic 9 volt battery operated  box with wires coming out of it, and hold onto the copper handles, and get zapped for an hour. I don't feel anything more than a slight electric tingle.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of things that can help fight cancer. I have spoken about turmeric, cruciferous vegetables, and healthy oils throughout this blog. If you are interested in learning more there are thousands of sites and books to help you with your research. To get you started I have provided a list of recommendations below.

Books

Cancer Free  Your guide to gentle, non-toxic healing   by Bill Henderson is a great resource for alternative options and information.
available  here on Amazon
Anti Cancer  A new way of life   by David Servan -Schreiber  MD, Phd. is a book everyone should read. He talks about diet and lifestyle changes. He is a brain cancer survivor.
available here on Amazon
You Can Say No to Chemo  by Laura Bond is an enjoyable read about her mother's journey with cancer, and the many alternative therapies she used to cure her cancer.
available here on Amazon

Websites

www.cancertutor.com   great resource
www.cancure.org  great resource and list of clinics
www.chrisbeatcancer.org  great resource and personal story

You can get an enema bag on Amazon. I use this bag because it is BPA free. Amazon also sells stainless steel enema buckets. They also sell organic enema coffee, but you could use a high quality organic medium roast coffee from any health food store.

Google zappers for more info on them.

While there is no cure for cancer, and I certainly have not yet been able to cure my cancer, these alternative treatments have cured others. At the very least, they are going to strengthen your body, and your immune system. Some of them can also be used in conjunction with chemotherapy, and in some cases may actually improve its effectiveness. Again, at the very least they can help you survive the ravaging effects of chemo.

I believe that I would have had a much harder time surviving this long, and this well without all the healing work I have been doing, emotionally and physically, using natural treatments.

So I am sure you are all still wondering why I am sending my urine to the Philippines. There is a test called the Navarro test that is more accurate than most blood tests in detecting cancer. It is an excellent way to monitor the amount of cancer in your body, especially when trying alternative treatments. If your number goes down, you know your treatment is working. If it doesn't you need to change what you are doing.

For the test you dehydrate your urine and send the crystals to a lab in the Philippines, and they e-mail you the results a few weeks later. I just did this for the first time last week. I brought my envelope with said substance to the post office, and handed it to the clerk. Because it was a little bit bulky, she said I would have to fill out a customs form. I looked at her and said "okay, but this is going to a medical lab for testing, so you can imagine what's inside" she just smiled. I stepped out of line, and filled out the form. When I handed it back to her, she put the information into the computer, but then handed it back to me. Now what?  She said " you didn't put a value. It won't let me send it without a value." I said " it's just pee."  She said with an understanding smile "you still need to put a value". I put 50 dollars! If the US postal service loses my pee, they owe me 50 bucks.

  2. Thank you for putting all this together and putting it out there. I was actually going to ask you for some directions about the coffee enema, and now here it is! And thanks for making me laugh, about the $50 pee……
I have felt overwhelmed at times by all the information and alternative cures out there, and so I can appreciate what it takes to make these decisions and how you stand by them. I also appreciate the ways that we have let each other have different paths, as you already mentioned--that we've found ways to be the same and different within this journey. I get to be inspired by your choices, and supported around my own--it's the best of both worlds, so I thank you for that as well.
